Our Blades Are Sharp

It wasn't just the words of their House, they lived by them. House Bolton internalized much from the savage and ruthless ways of the first men.

Introduction: Royce Bolton, the scion of House Bolton.

Paths are not found; they are forged. Every bold decision is a stone, and every failure is the mortar that holds your legacy together.About:Royce was born to Ramsay Bolton and Sapphire Bolton (nee Snow) in 305 AC at Winterfell shortly after the heated battle for the North with Jon Snow and his sister Sansa Stark. It was a rather harsh and long winter when Royce was born and quite honestly the maester wasn't sure if he was even going to survive, but he proved him wrong. Royce was a rather resilient babe much like his parents who had also endured a lot. Perhaps the weather proved to be a form of good fortune and a way to show that the boy was to be resilient in his lifetime.Growing up he was taught by both of his parents the ways of House Bolton and the meaning of their House words: Our Blades Are Sharp. Ramsay and Sapphire did not shy away from showing Royce the gruesome means of flaying and torturing those who stood against them and their House. Despite the practice of flaying being heavily forbidden in the North. House Bolton never truly upheld the laws that the Stark's had put into place just to keep them in line and to keep them from practicing their long gruesome tradition. Since the Bolton's now rule the North, it was no longer outlawed. Continuing on what Royce's grandsire, Roose had oft practiced in secret except it wasn't a secret now as they practiced it openly and without discrimination.Royce at the age of six, during a trip to the Dreadfort did see some of dilapidated skins of their enemies from what appears to be from long ago. He was also able to take notice of some freshly placed ones that were proudly displayed along the walls of the castle, all somehow preserved so they would not rot away quickly and so that it did not bring about a stench to the castle. Oddly enough given the age he was, Royce was absolutely not put off by it or scared. In fact he was fascinated by it more than anything after hearing his parents talk about it and eventually seeing the handiwork first hand.At the age of eight and onward Royce was brought along to the little hunts Ramsay would put on, at first it was to have his mettle tested and thereafter it was a pleasure venture practically. Royce’s unapologetic opinion on such was that if people behaved stupidly or did something that required applicable punishment, they deserved the fate they were dealt by his family. That same opinion still holds true for Royce, if anyone has pissed off or slighted his father, mother and soon to be wife, Princess Rhaella Targaryen, then they truly had deserved a horrible death delt out by his father's hounds or to be tortured for days on end.Once he had his tenth name day, he received a flaying knife that was passed down through the family as a gift, one that he still owns and placed in his growing collection of varying knives (flaying or otherwise) and swords.Royce has never shown any sort of disdain for his parents for everything he was exposed to. Any other person outside of House Bolton would probably feel inclined to feel in such a way if they were him. Instead he felt a sense of pride, it was their way of life when it came to punishment. He also knows good and well that they love him. And yes deep down in that cold murderous heart of Ramsay’s he can love, as proven by his very existence and the love he shows Sapphire.Ramsay’s girls also called Bastard’s Girls (hounds); Grey Jeyne, Helicent, Jez, Alison, Kyra, Maude, Red Jeyne, Sara and Willow are quite familiar with Royce and absolutely adore him despite their typically cruel nature. Thus the Girls wouldn't dare to harm him. In fact three of the Girls had protected him when he decided to venture out into the woods alone when he was six or seven; Sara, Willow and Grey Jeyne managed to get out of their kennels and found him being stalked by some wolves that were encroaching on him. Since that time he has personally gone down to the kennels to feed them all and care for them. It's to note that just because they're kind to him doesn't mean they are with anyone else aside from Ramsay or Sapphire. Sometimes the kennel master who is caring for them is afraid of them.Royce is absolutely close with both of his parents but was always attached to his mother. When he could walk, he would stumble around and try to follow her a lot when he was a child. Back at that tender age frame, he was easily scared of the things around him but outgrew that scaredy temperament by the age of four or five.He was also schooled by the maester in Winterfell since he resided there instead of the Dreadfort, and to the wise old man's surprise he found that the boy was quick to take to his lessons. The Maester often reported back to Sapphire and Ramsay that their son was a quick learner and quite clever for his age. That quick learning and cleverness had quickly formed into the fondness to learn things and continue educating himself in any which way he possibly could. Therefore he would often be found at the libraries at his homes, The Dreadfort or Winterfell.Being the male heir, leaves a great burden on him after Ramsay dies, as Royce will become the new Warden of the North, Lord of Winterfell and Lord of the Dreadfort, until he has children of his own. Be it a son(s) or daughter(s) who will inherit the titles and lands after him; one thing that is for certain is he's not going to be prejudice against giving the title of Warden/Wardeness, Lord or Lady to any one of his children be it male or female to inherit the lands after him. To say he has a great gap to fill is an understatement.Royce would also become King Consort to Princess Rhaella in due to time and eventually rule the six/seven Kingdoms together with her.

Personality

Royce’s personality is pretty mild mannered given his father's wild and unhinged temperament and perhaps he takes after his grandsire, Roose, in that aspect. He also may come off as standoffish at first but will quickly build up to sarcasm, and potentially be a smartass. He rarely shows hints of kindness, however that is dependent on how someone comes off to him or how he may perceive the person(s). For the most part he is mostly quiet and observant; his witty and charming self only comes out when he's got around to knowing someone. However, when he's pissed off or feels slighted in any way shape or form, that's when you see his father's side come out and it's not a pretty sight.Royce is also very protective of his family which now includes his little dragon, Rhaella (later wife as they are still unwed). If anyone does anything to offend or touch her without explicit permission from her, he will lose his shit. Royce doesn't play around when it comes to those he loves at all. He's also not ashamed of anything, much like Ramsay as he has grown up in an open communication house. No secrets were ever withheld from him and he would like to keep with that aspect with his future family. Besides, lying to him is offensive and he doesn't take kindly to being lied to. At all.Skills:Royce is skilled with bow and arrow, knives, daggers and swords; he was ensured to be trained in everything under the sun. He's also a skilled rider and has a pure black horse that was gifted to him by his parents that he aptly named Raven.Religion:Royce worships the Old Gods (aka the trees; inside joke) as it's pretty traditional for Northern Houses.Miscellaneous:Royce has a peregrine falcon back at home that he named Orion. He found Orion as a baby when he was out hunting with his father. Realizing that she was injured, he took it back to Winterfell with him to help care for it. Later he tried to release her but she always came back to him so he decided to keep the falcon. He found that he quite enjoys falconry as a hobby, a rare thing in the North to do but he found a place for his hobby. He's also currently learning High Valyrian for his betrothed. This will be constantly updated so check back periodically.

Rules & Guidelines + Miscellaneous Things.

First and foremost don't feel rushed to reply to anything, life gets in the way or mental health just sucks ass. Besides I'm also a slow replier myself due to mental health reasons, health reasons topped off with working. I also don't like being pushed for replies due to the quality you will get. I'm a give it my all writer and it takes me a while to think up responses, so quality would suck if I'm rushed. If I'm not replying for two weeks or longer then it's okay to bump things! I have a system that I have in which I get to replies, if I'm being pestered enough by someone then I'll bring you and your replies to the bottom of the list. Ship partner always take priority, sorry not sorry.Something new that I'm implementing and is regarding ships across my accounts is that if ship partners are going to be MIA for 1 month or longer without word, I will drop the ship to leave my character open for others, no ifs ands or buts; I don't want to be stuck in a ship if nothing is happening or progressing. I communicate with those I'm shipped with if I'm going on a break so they know that I'm not IA. However since Royce is single shipped already this is not applicable. I communicate regularly with my best friend who writes/ships with my character(s).I'm pretty open to anything when it comes to stories, but if it's just going straight for sex or smut then I won't do it and you won't get replies from me. I like connections and depth before that even fucking happens for my characters. Thank yew! Again not applicable to my friend since we typically discuss anything like this in advance or if we feel the need to bring it up we discuss before hand. Also there may be NSFW on here from time to time on storylines or banter read at your own discretion.I am pretty lax when it comes to replies, but I do like effort, one liners are great for banter and stuff but I won't tolerate it for storylines and such. Also, please communicate with me if you have no interest in continuing to write with me. This is so that I'm not waiting for ages for stuff to come when it's not. I will do much the same in return. Please, please, please keep my pin even! My OCD drives me crazy when it's not evened out!

Writer

I go by the writer tag (WT) silentprincess and I'm 41 (at the time of writing this). I've been roleplaying for over a decade now. I'm quite chill once you get to know me and I absolutely hate drama that isn't IC, I've dealt with my fair share of that and bullying over the course of my rping days and in real life. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I do have a bit of a disability that may show when I write my characters, although since this is an OC it really doesn't matter much. But I tend to see canon characters in a different way or perceive them in such ways and it bleeds into my portrayals. If you don't want to write with me because of if or if you don't like my writing I'm okay with that, no hard feelings! I'm cool with making friends with like minded interests, just keep in mind I'm very introverted and won't talk unless I'm talked to.
